Conky - Light Weight System Monitor For Linux.

greg_head_normal By Greg Sayle

There has not been any recent articles written about Conky, a light weight system monitor. So, I did some Google searching until I found the code I wanted to make and shape Conky for my desktop needs.

The basic black and white layout for Conky didn't fit my desktop. There are any number of Conky configurations a user can copy from the Internet to use.

If you don't have Conky installed on your system you can use your software manager to install Conky.

Once you have installed Conky just open a terminal and type conky. Too edit the Conky config file open your text editor in root mode.

The Conky config file is found /etc/conky/conky.conf

Now, I didn't want to spend hours messing with all the settings to get the look I wanted for my desktop. I found the settings I wanted HERE.

Conky can be setup to run when your system boots, but I didn't want this to happen on my system. I just added an icon in my task bar and I can start Conky when I am ready.

Below is the image of Conky running on my desktop.
